Meet Dr. Michelle Cothran

A Committed and Compassionate Dentist

in Staunton

Dr. Cothran grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina where she attended North Carolina State University. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in biological sciences and a minor in nutrition, she decided to pursue her passion for dentistry. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Her education provided her the opportunity to teach dental laboratory classes, serve on mission trips and volunteer in her local community. Dr. Cothran loves dentistry for its opportunities to help people and the artistic touch needed to be successful.

Outside of dentistry she also enjoys painting, hiking, and watching NASCAR. On her time off she likes to travel and eat the local cuisine. Her favorite is ceviche from Peru! Dr. Cothran and her husband, Michael, have recently moved to Staunton and are enjoying their home in the mountains. They are new to the Shenandoah Valley and would love any recommendations for outdoor activities and delicious restaurants!

Dear Valued Patients,

We hope you are staying healthy and well during this public health emergency. Our priority, as it has always been, is the continued health and safety of our patients and staff. We will continue implementing the recommendations of the ADA (American Dental Association) and the VDA (Virginia Dental Association) and the CDC regarding COVID 19. To continue to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID 19, we kindly ask that if you have an upcoming dental appointment that you follow these COVID 19 guidelines:

  • Please reschedule your dental appointment should you have any symptoms of COVID 19 (fever, fatigue, dry cough, difficulty breathing, aches & pains, sore throat, loss of sense of smell or taste).
  • Please refrain from bringing additional individuals with you to your appointment.
  • Please wear a mask.
  • Please keep a safe distance from others when possible.

In the interest of patient safety, we would like to share some of our safety measures practiced in our office. N95 Masks, protective face shields, and gloves will continue to be worn by providers.
Daily temperature monitoring of all staff, including our front desk support, assistants, hygienists, and doctors. Every operatory is wiped down with disinfectant between every patient. Door pulls, countertops, front desk, restroom handles and waiting room wiped down frequently with disinfectant. We appreciate and value your continued understanding during this health crisis.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
